Bank Robbers have definite similarities but they are human so they are all different. Most of them are losers with the big L, they need money to feed their drug habits.
To bankers, bank robbers are simply scary, unbalanced people with very limited learning abilities and they are damn dangerous. I have been in several bank robberies and I can honestly attest to the fact that none of them were very well planned.
First of all, I’ve never seen a bank robber bring a bag for the money. They think we will provide one, but wouldn’t you want to be prepared? Time is of the essence here, giving a teller time to look for a bag (while she rings the alarm) is not wise.
I have seen them run out of the bank with arms full of cash and drop half of it in the parking lot. I have witnessed them trying to stuff money into pockets of large overcoats, forgetting it’s 90 degrees outside and someone rang the alarm when they walked into the building.
They are usually disoriented and terrified. So many things can go wrong and does. Once, a robber put his gun in the front of his pants and the gun went off. I don’t think he is going to be a father any time soon.
I think it’s more scary for the customers who are out in the bank lobby with them with no training on behavior. Being calm is your very best skill. I hope it never happens to you, but if it does, don’t try to be a hero. Stay quiet and hope he leaves quickly without you!
